romance anime where the characters are actually adults??
is it just me or is literally every romance anime set in highschool lol looking for romance where characters are college age or older, ideally with some realistic relationship development instead of the usual 'confess in ep 11 and thats the whole arc' thing already seen spice and wolf, wotakoi, nana. loved all three
Nodame Cantabile!! music college setting, one of the best romance series ever made imo. the characters feel like real people

both are great actually but start with anime! the voice acting is perfect and the music sequences are better animated. then watch the live action after if u want more
halfway thru nodame and obsessed. the dynamic between them is so funny but also weirdly wholesome. thank u for this rec 🙏
Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju — adult characters, traditional japanese performance arts setting, romance woven into a bigger story about legacy and loss. it's a masterpiece tbh
seconding this SO hard. people sleep on rakugo cause the premise sounds boring but it's genuinely one of the best anime ever made
Skip and Loafer — technically highschool but it's one of the most emotionally mature and realistic portrayals of young relationships ive ever seen. doesnt feel like a typical hs romance at all
His and Her Circumstances (Kare Kano)! older series but holds up. the character writing is exceptional. also Tada Never Falls in Love if u want smth more recent and lighthearted
kare kano looks amazing actually!! adding to my list rn. i love older series
